Gab Banned From Paypal Following Synagogue Shooting
According to Gab.com CEO Andrew Torba, PayPal terminated its contract with Gab today (Saturday, October 27th, 2018). PayPal’s decision may have been influenced by the discovery of synagogue shooter Robert Bower’s use of Gab.
If the shooting did play a role in the decision, this would be unusual for PayPal, considering it has not terminated a contract with other social media platforms that the gunman used, nor has it ever done so with prior violent criminals.
Gab issued a statement disavowing the shooter’s actions and clarified their zero tolerance policy for threats of violence by users.
We have nothing but love for all people and freedom. We have consistently disavowed all violence. Free speech is crucial for the prevention of violence. If people can not express themselves through words, they will do so through violence. No one wants that. No one.
